037 – identity and spaces

Death and rebirth is the continuous cycle of the human psyche. My body and my identity are both dying a little bit every day, even tho they are doing so in very different ways.

Yesterday me and Chenchen wore wedding rings, after about 10 months of actually getting married. She describe the journey of getting to wear these rings as something not easy, that revealed the underlying different perspectives and values with which we look at marriage.

It’s now 0246 and I can’t sleep, there are multiple threads of thoughts running wild around my mind and they are at times colliding.

It’s 0249 and I can’t sleep. There are multiple threads running wild around my head. They are colliding from time to time. A call for clarity can be heard underneath them all. Let’s see how we can pay service to that.

Thread 1 – as it is for us

At any time, we are all swimming and bathing in our own mental constructs and conceptions. The first and easy approach that comes natural is to take these from outside, from our environment and the people that appears to be charismatic within it. Soon enough these reveal their limitations for us because they weren’t developed with ourselves and our circumstances in mind. The second natural approach to adopt, as a reaction to the first, is to become a reactionary to most of these construct and self-identify with the criticisms of them. These takes us in a palace where we can criticise whatever construct feels more painful and stifling to us, which can be more personalised and closer to us, but it also takes us to live in the shadow. We become a rebellious outcast, unable and unwilling to accept compromise and social cohesion as they threaten our identity. Finally, we may come to a third stage that transcends both. Here we play with each construct as building blocks. We touch and smell whichever we encounter and try to decide if and how they may fit the life we are building. And we are not alone in doing this. We sit in the large playground of society and our community, with others around us, some of which are at different levels of relating to constructs. At this stage, life becomes more playful and intentional. We gain greater clarity of our values and play with different constructs and see how they fit them. We step up for ourselves and are willing to sacrifice optionality and opportunities that don’t seem promising. We may become ambitious of manifesting our values in their highest and widest expressions. We are concerned with building the work of our life. Note that this doesn’t happen overnight and across all areas of our life. It starts somewhere, wherever in our life this assertive approach takes holds, and then it spreads from there in patches, like an infection. Rehearsing the practices and methods of this confident and patience inspection of constructs enables us to bring this approach over for one domain to another. Some patches of our lives may take longer to fall, as they may be stronghold of norms or contrarianisms. Eventually, we may come to playfully inspect everything for what it is and how it may work in our corner of the world.

Thread 2 – localism, globalism, rituals and identity

We live in loco. Our bodies and transports still move at limited speeds, which ties us to specific locations, environments and realities. Those used to, and for some still  are, either in there daily experience or memories, the primary or only containers of psychical activities and mental evolution. Identity is and was formed in this containers strongly tied to physical realities. Our animal attachments to different types of cuisines, clothings and cultures is a remarkably strong evidence of that. However, in the last hundred years the speed at which our thoughts, imagination and psychic activities can travels have greatly increased to many folds. As a result of this, a cleavage emerged between two realms – the digitally and the physically transferred – modes of psychic experience. And this cleavage between digital and physical reality is deepest with respect to social identity. The hardest parts to reconcile are down in the subconscious, where different journeys run in parallel thirsty to interweave and align. People talk about the burning desire of being in closer proximity to the online peers they found such strong mental chemistry with online. We hear the cries for physical communities that can mimic the dynamism and vivacity of online ones. Pokémon Go was such a good example of linking these two worlds. The brought together the excitedly typing fingers of the gamer and the straightened up spine of the walker, but as far as I could tell from outside they blended very poorly online and offline identities and subconsciouses. Watching people standing in embarrassed crowds with their heads down and little to say was sad. Identities are a crucial part of our we develop ourselves and collaborate. They are the frame of the individual, setting the context and the constraints to what they will do in life and how. Throughout centuries long standing cultures have developed mechanisms and practices to push people through stages of development of their psyche and identity. These are crystallised in myths. As economic transactions and digital interactions went global and hyper speed, these rituals and practices couldn’t keep up, and the cleavage emerged. This is an area ripe for opportunity, where some blossoming and fun city can be built in the valley.

Bringing together thread 1 and 2 was catalysed in mind during the last few hours. I had a strong experience of interaction and change in the physical reality which collided, in some way, which a bunch of unclear and unspecified norms I picked up from hanging out online or with online adjacent subconsciouses and cultures. And they way forward from this collision was to step up and start playing with the building blocks of menta constructs myself. The solution was to step up to the evolution of my identity and take responsibility for what it felt it mattered. It did feel like an evolution. I am typing with a ring on my finger, and it does feel different. I am thinking from a renewed place of responsibility and it does feel different. None online can see or notice this, but they will interact with the thoughts of my evolved consciousness.

Let me just get straight to the point; I saw your blog and I think you would be a great fit for our company :-). We are currently paying upwards of $70/hour for English translators. We are looking for people who are reliable, hardworking, and willing to work long-term. English fluency is preferred, and I don’t think you should have any problems with this requirement. We are an online based company from North Carolina. Interested? Apply here: https://msha.ke/freedomwithtay

Okay, this might be a little bit random, but I saw your blog and had to ask, are you interested in a translation job? I know I’m a stranger but I felt like doing a good deed today by alerting a couple people that a good position has opened up here: https://msha.ke/freedomwithtay and they pay sometimes even $70/hour. Okay, they won’t always give that amount, I only made around $400 last week, but it’s part time and when times are tight, every little bit helps. Hope it helps, and my apologies if you’re not interested. Have a great day/evening!

Hey, honestly your site is coming along :-), but I had a question – it’s a bit slow. Have you thought about using a different host like propel? It’d help your visitors stick around longer = more profit long term anyway. There’s a decent review on it by this guy who uses gtmetrix to test different hosting providers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q6s0ciJI4W4 and the whole video has a bunch of gold in it, worth checking out.

Picture this – 3 am in the morning, I had a line of fiends stretched around the corner of my block. It was in the freezing middle of January but they had camped out all night, jumping-ready to buy like there was a sale on Jordans. If you were 16 years old, in my shoes, you’d do anything to survive, right? I got good news though; I MADE IT OUT OF THE HOOD, with nothing but a laptop and an internet connection. I’m not special or lucky in any way. If I, as a convicted felon that used to scream “Free Harlem” around my block until my throat was sore, could find a way to generate a stable, consistent, reliable income online, ANYONE can! If you’re interested in legitimate, stress-free side hustles that can bring in $3,500/week, I set up a site you can use: https://incomecommunity.com

I was pleasantly surprised sooner than how competent it was in help me draw back asleep and stay asleep in every part of the night. Not barely that, but I also noticed a decrease in my entire dread levels during the day. I recognize that CBD is a organic and non-addictive choice to ancestral nod off aids.
